The year 2014 was remarkably a memorable year for Kendriya Vidyalaya Balaghat as it gave us many reasons to cherish the glorious successes achieved by virtue of perseverance and commitment of the students and the teachers in all the fields of activities. But at the same time the horrid glimpses of the heart-rending and agonizing accident which snatched one of our lovely students in the ill-fated morning of 8th Nov. 2014 are too excruciating to be endured.

Most esteemed Sh. V. Kiran Gopal IAS, Collector & District Magistrate and Chairman Vidyalaya Management Committee, Kendriya Vidyalaya Balaghat, highly revered Shri Gaurav Tiwari IPS, Superintendent of Police, Balaghat, respected Shri Rajesh Bhattacharya, Mine Manager MOIL, Bharweli Mine Balaghat, worthy members of VMC, K V Balaghat, eminent officers of MOIL Bharweli mine Balaghat, respected officers of district administration and the staff, the cherished officers of 123 Battalion CRPF and Cobra Battalion with personnel, office bearers of the PTA, the media persons, special invitees, beloved parents and guests, it thrills me to welcome you on this fascinating occasion. 

This ideal and unparalleled vibes in the school campus this evening is the acknowledgment of your deep-rooted affection and altruistic alliance with the school. I take this exhilarating moment as a magnificent opportunity to read out the Annual Report of the school for the session 2014-15.

Our school, since its inception in 1993, has been growing every day. It has Science and Commerce streams with close to a thousand students enjoying education with around 50 dedicated staff plus those outsourced on contractual basis. The school provides all facilities and state of art teaching technologies in addition to e- class room, e-content and e-progress report.

I feel immensely proud to convey to you that the result of class X was 100% for the session 2013-14. The icing on the cake about the result is that Master Sourabh Pandrey got 10 out of 10 CGPA and brought laurels to school. The sparkle of this shining star was even more brightened when he was honoured on the KVS Foundation Day on 15th Dec. 2014 with a cheque of Rs. 5000/- and a merit certificate awarded by CBSE. The vidyalaya secured 98.6% in AISSCE 2013-14. Miss Priyanshi Dubey of Science Stream scored 93.2%, Miss Smriti Wadhwani of Commerce Stream obtained 92.2% and Miss Nishtha Gautam from Science Stream achieved 91% and brought us the distinguished name and place in the town.  After a short while from now, you all will have a chance to see these amazing glory winners when they will be honoured by the vidyalaya.


Master Nishant Nag of class X has cleared the first level of National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) which is a prestigious Govt. of India scholarship Programme.

National Children’s Science Congress

It is the matter of abundant appreciation that one student of our vidyalaya Master Seemant Nag of class VIII was nominated for the National Children’s Science Congress.


It makes me exceedingly jubilant to invite your attention to the achievement of Master Prateek Nanhet of class XI who won the Bronze medal at the South Asian Karate Championship held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi. Master Anand Asati of class XI participated in the National Level Karate Championship held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi in June, 2014.

Social Science Exhibition

 K V Balaghat participated in the Regional Level S. St. Exhibition at K V No. 1 Raipur. K  V Balaghat grabbed 2nd position in the Dance competition and 3rd in the skit competition and earned recognition for the school.

Achievements in Games and Sports

This year 6 students of our vidyalaya participated in Athletics at KVS Regional Level Sports Competitions held at Mahasamund.  One student participated in Taekwondo at regional level competition at K V Korba. It is even more inspiring to know that one student Master Ashish Marathe of class IX participated in prestigious 800 meter   race at National Level Athletics Competitions which   was held at K V BSF Camp Chhawala, New Delhi.

Annual Sports Meet 2014

Kendriya Vidyalaya Balaghat has always attempted to give sufficient emphasis to the promotion of sporting habits amongst the students. Annual Sports Day is milestone in the life of each rising athlete. The Annual Sports Day was organized on 3rd January 2015 in which various sports competitions for all the classes were organized. The meet was made manifold memorable by the presence of most esteemed Shri V. Kiran Gopal, IAS, Collector and District Magistrate and highly honoured Shri Gaurav Tiwari, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Balaghat.   

Implementation of CCE & Other Modes of Assessment

The modern education has been witnessing multifarious changes like never before owing to which the new experiments, one of which is CCE which has revolutionised the concept of education, are taking place. Kendriya Vidyalaya Balaghat has implemented CCE in I to X in the letter and spirit.


CBSE in recent times has initiated several new ways of assessment of the students to train them to pace with the swift and unpredictable competitive world. Among the newest changes is the introduction of Assessment of Speaking and Listening (ASL) skills in English in IX and XI classes. Open Text Based Assessment (OTBA) is another feather in the cap of ground-breaking changes in assessment of CBSE. Be it Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) or the Proficiency Test, all are intended to facilitate high level of erudition and cognition among the students. Kendriya Vidyalaya Balaghat educates the students and the parents from time to time about these latest indispensable changes with the illustration of all the rudimentary rubrics needed to absorb them.

CCA Activities

Imagine a school with no co-curricular activities being organized. All the students have got a flair for one activity or other. School is the that perfect place where by conducting many co-curricular activities, the students are allowed to showcase their talents apart from studies. For the organised conduct of these activities, the students of the vidyalaya are divided into four houses.

Club Activities

Kendriya Vidyalaya Balaghat has made transaction of knowledge and learning multi-dimensional. Many activities suiting to the interest and skills of the students are organised by forming the clubs like Maths Club, Science Club, Integrity Club, Nature or Eco Club, S. St. Club, Library Club etc. which provide them the genuine experience of astute stuffs with mammoth return of realistic knowledge even out of classroom situations.


Somebody has very rightly said that the future scientists are groomed in the labs of schools. This is one of the places where their seeds of practical knowledge are germinated. The little scientists with their teachers in Chemistry, Physics and Bio labs examine, experiment and revel in the learning. One of the prominent features of K V Balaghat is the availability of two computer labs with around two dozen computers each kept at the students’ disposal.



K V Balaghat has a library rich with myriads of books on multitude of subjects along with copious educational magazines.

Medical Facilities in School

K V Balaghat takes care of students in the school as their parents do at home. The appointment of one MBBS doctor and a nurse on contractual basis makes us the unparalleled institution which provides the medical facilities in the school.

Common Minimum Programme

Activities and a variety of contests under CMP along as well as Community Lunch are organized throughout the session. The cluster level CMP meeting of the Balaghat cluster was held at K V Balaghat in which five different KVs KV Dongargarh, K V Rajnandgaon, K V Khairagarh, K V Malanjkhand placed under Balaghat cluster participated. Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country are called mini India because students of different communities from all parts of country study in perfect harmony.  K V Balaghat organizes community lunch to foster the feelings of sharing and develop communal harmony.

National Cadet Corps

The vidyalaya is proud to have an independent unit of NCC. This unit at K V Balaghat was sanctioned the 50 seats out of which 30 cadets have already been registered. The rest 20 cadets will be registered this session. These cadets last year made valuable contribution by participating in ‘Pulse Polio Campaign’ ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ etc. They are going to participate in the NCC camps and are enthusiastically practicing for the forthcoming first ever ‘International Yoga Day’ on 21 June 2015.

Scouts and Guides

The vidyalaya has a significant unit of the Bharat Scouts and Guides which is one of the most outstanding features of the vidyalaya with 11 Scout Masters and 8 Guide Captains. 04 Scouts, 04 Guides participated in Tritiya Sopan Training and Testing Camp at Kendriya Vidyalaya NO. 1 Raipur in August 2014.  Rajya Puraskar Testing Camp was organized from 6th June 2014 to 10th June 2014 at K V Old Cantt. Allahabad in which 2 Scouts and 4 Guides participated. The Vidyalaya conducted 02 – Day Pratham and Dwitiya Sopan Training and Testing Camp from 5th September 2014 to 6th September 2014 in which 115 Scouts and Guides along with 7 Scout Masters with 8 Guide Captains participated. 4 guides and 2 Scouts names’ have been recommended for the coveted Rashtrapati Puraskar.

Teachers’ Training Programme

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan keeps updating the teachers and the staff members so as to keep them afoot and abreast of the changes which keep trickling in the academic and administrative fields. In this regard, Mr. Brajesh Kumar Katre PGT English attended 2-Day Training  Programme on e-CTLT at K V Begumpet, Hyderabad from 3rd April 2014 to 4th April 2014. Ms. M. R Dolare, PGT Chemistry and Mr. Brajesh Kumar Katre, PGT English underwent training in the ‘Effective School Management and Leadership Skills’ in Goa and Hyderabad respectively. Some teachers attended In-Service Training Programme among whom are Mr R. V. Kumar, TGT S. St. at K V Bokaro, Mr. S. K. Bisen at K V No 1 Jalahalli Bengaluru, Mr. S. V. Sharma at K V Malleswaram, Bengaluru and Mr. C. Thakre PRT at K V Bacheli. Mr Suresh Kumar PET, Mr Y.K. Bisen, PRT and Mr. Anil Rahangdale PRT attended a workshop on ‘Health Hygiene and Sanitation’ at ZIET Mumbai.

Celebration Of Hindi Month

 K V Balaghat celebrated Hindi Maah (Month) from 14.09.2014 to 13.10.2014. During this Hindi Maah Celebrations, various Inter-House Competitions which included Poem Recitation, Speech, Essay Writing, Group Song Competition, School Level Kavi Sammelan etc.

Teachers’ Transfer

Transfer is a regular process in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Annual transfers and transfers on account of promotions are integral procedures of KVS. This year TGT Maths Ms. Nilopher Sheikh from K V Balaghat was transferred to K V Khairagarh as she got promotion through Limited Departmental Exam (LDE). Ms. Archana Kawde PRT, Mr. Rupendra Bisen PRT and Mr. Navneet Borkar PRT Music were transferred to K V Balaghat from K V Malanjkhand, K V Teju in Arunachal Pradesh and K V ITBP Karera respectively during the session 2014-15.


31st October, as Rastriya Ekata Diwas (National Unity Day)

‘The National Unity Day’ in commemoration of the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was celebrated on 31st October, 2014 in Kendriya Vidyalaya Balaghat with the organization of ‘Run for Unity’ for the students and all the staff members of the vidyalaya.

Introduction of German Language

In the present times when the world has shrunk to a very small family, the knowledge of minimum one or two foreign languages is the need of the hour. Keeping such inevitable requisitions for future prospects in views, K V Balaghat has made a German teacher available for the classes VI to VIII. The students can learn German as an additional language.

Students’ Council

K V Balaghat every year formulates the Students’ Council to allow the young leaders to learn bear the cargo of responsibilities by holding different positions. The members of the students’ council share the responsibilities and execute their works under the supervision of the teachers. This is also one of the ways of fostering an indispensable excellence of management and supervision.   

Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week

 ‘The Vigilance Awareness Week’ was observed in the vidyalaya from 27.10.2014 to 01.11.2014. The observance of week focused on jettisoning and eliminating the corruption from the great Indian society.

Teachers’ Day Celerbration & Live Interaction With Hon’ble P. M. Shri Narendra Modi

It was indeed an unbelievably astonishing day with exceptional amount of awe-inspiring zest which every student carried with them not just because of the festivity of the teachers’ day but also because of  the fact that the honourable Prime Minister of the country Shri Narendra Modi made all the students feel honoured and privileged by talking to them directly. It was a maiden experience for our school children to listen to the inspirational words from the Prime Minister.

Viewing of India’s Mars Orbiter Mission in the School

Elaborate arrangements were made for the students to watch and be the part of history which was created by India by successfully completing the Mars orbiter Mission (MoM).

I take this opportunity to sincerely thank Shri V. Kiran Gopal, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate and Chairman Vidyalaya Management Committee for sparing his valuable time revealing profound interest in all activities of the vidyalaya. I thank Shri Gaurav Tiwari, IPS, Superintendant of Police, Balaghat for his enormous support to the vidyalaya. I further thank all the members of VMC, officers of MOIL, Bharweli Mine, officers and staff of the state administration and rank and file of CRPF and dignitaries, media persons, parents, well-wishers and of course the staff and the children of my K V Balaghat family who have undeniably worked hard to make it an unforgettable function.

I would like to close my report with firm conviction that K V Balaghat continues to remain an apple of everyone’s eye in the times to come:
